The activities undertaken by Great Old Broads for Wilderness are guided by the overriding principle that the focus of attention must be on what is best for the land, for Mother Earth.

• The pristine environmental character of our remaining roadless areas and other special wild places (water quality, wildlife habitat, air quality, cultural resources, and absence of roads) must be protected from any oil & gas or mining impacts. Broads advocates for reduced demand for fossil fuels through conservation and development of alternative fuel sources.
• Officially designated Wilderness Areas, Wildlife Refuges, and Wilderness Study Areas and areas with wilderness characteristics or critical wildlife habitat must be protected from oil & gas and mining activities unless designation language specifically allows such activities.
