Calaveras Big Trees State Park, California 4, Arnold, CA, United States, California 95223
Description:

Enjoy the early days of Autumn in the Giant Sequoias at Calaveras Big Trees State Park, on Highway 4, just east of Arnold. This event is sponsored by the Middle California Broadband of Great Old Broads for Wilderness. We are a short drive from a full-service mountain community in case you forget anything!  This is a great event for inexperienced campers! This beautiful campground has showers and flushing toilets. Your hosts know the campground and area well.

Our schedule includes group hikes and walks among these magnificent trees. We may have a chance to participate in a stewardship project to benefit the Park, a gem in our California State Park System.

Presentations will include information about the Sierra Nevada bio-region of mountains, rivers, and forests. We can learn about how to protect them. We will also learn about Congressional legislation for a land management bill to protect Northern California Rivers and Mountains. Your event hosts will be in Washington DC the week before this trip, so we will be ready share information and inspiration about our efforts to protect our Public Lands.  Participants will have an opportunity to write a personal letter to Congress in support of this legislation.

There will be plenty of free time to enjoy this spectacular forest close to the SF Bay Area in the company of outdoor loving friends, old and new.

Space limited to 24 campers (six cars)
Meals are on your own, except for a Saturday's pot-luck dinner.
Each camper is responsible for their own camping equipment (we will provide a list)

Contact Maureen Forney at mforney7526@gmail.com with any questions.

We ask for a donation to cover the cost of our group campsites. This will run $17 - $40 per camper, depending on the number of participants. We have a limited amount of camping equipment that we can share. A link to a camping equipment rental source is below. You can check out this list of suggested equipment here (remember that campers love to share.)http://www.cozi.com/blog/family-camping-checklist-and-a-few-great-tips/
