The Douglas-fir tree is the state tree of Oregon for good reason. It is the dominant tree in the Western Cascades, plays a significant roll in the economy of Oregon and, when it reaches old growth status, it supports a wide variety of wildlife and a diversity of plant life.
Come to the Willamette Valley Broadband's November 7 meeting to hear David Stone discuss the proposal by the Friends of Douglas-fir National Monument for a National Monument east of Sweet Home in the Willamette National Forest.
David Stone is President of Friends of Douglas-fir National Monument. He is a professional nature photographer and a long time environmental advocate. He cut his teeth in the field as co-founder of the Waldo Wilderness Council and served as Conservation Chair of the Lane County Audubon Society for six years.
