WHAT
IS A BROADBAND?
Broadbands
are local ad hoc groups that form around a particular local issue
within the scope of Great
Old Broads' mission statement. They are Broads' version of chapters and their focus is on protecting wilderness-quality public lands from grazing, off-highway
vehicle activity, and oil and gas exploration and drilling through education, advocacy, and volunteer projects.
We also specialize
in having fun! This means Broadbands get together just to
socialize, hike, and enjoy the wilderness we work to protect.
We believe that staying connected with other Broads and The Land in
a fun way leads to stronger Broadbands and advocates. Even if there isn't an urgent local issue at the moment,
an occasional get-together with other Broads cements the ties and makes a "force to be reckoned with" when local Wilderness or wild lands need our help.
Joining a Broadband
in your area is a great way to meet other Broads and to get involved
in local or regional issues that are important to you. Scroll
through the list of Broadbands to find out if there's one in
your area. If there’s
not a Broadband in your area and you’d
like to start one, please contact us! We’d love to help
you get a group going.
