January 17 | Crossing the Cols—Nepal’s Great Himalaya Trail (Central Oregon Bitterbrush Broadband)

January 17, 2024 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Join the Central Oregon Bitterbrush Broads and Bros from 4:00-5:30 PM on January 17, 2024, for a special presentation by Art Pope and Leslie Kent about crossing the highest passes on Nepal’s Great Himalaya Trail.

The Great Himalaya Trail or GHT, runs the length of Nepal crossing every drainage flowing south out of the Himalayas.  Between 2009 and 2020 it is estimated less than 100 people completed the entire route. Pope and Kent’s audio-visual presentation, “Crossing the Cols,” focuses on a sixteen-day trek dedicated to what many consider to be the most difficult section of the GHT; crossing Shepani Col at 20,276 feet and West Col at 20,126 feet.

Location:

Environmental Center, 16 NW Kansas Ave., Bend, OR.

This event will raise funds to support the Wilderness Defense Fund—an endowed fund managed by the Great Old Broads for Wilderness dedicated to keeping Wilderness wild. The suggested donation is $10.
