Over 40 women of a certain age from across the country gathered in Ouray County last weekend for a “Broad-Walk” event sponsored by the wilderness advocacy group Great Old Broads for Wilderness.

The Broads are a national non-profit membership organization based in Durango, that uses the voices and activism of elders to preserve and protect wilderness and wild public lands. Their goal in visiting Ouray County was to learn more about the San Juan Mountains Wilderness proposal of which the locally proposed Sneffels Wilderness Expansion is a part.
