Wilderness Advocacy Leadership Training
Set for April 20–24, 2020

Durango, Colorado—Great Old Broads for Wilderness, a national non-profit conservation organization, presents Wilderness Advocacy Leadership Training for women interested in leading or co-leading a Broadband chapter for the organization to advocate for America’s public lands and waters. The training will be held April 20–24, 2020 in Kensington, New Hampshire and includes topics such as leadership and communication skills; grassroots organizing techniques; wilderness and public lands history; relationship building; and effective interaction with land management agencies. Applications will be accepted until March 20, 2020.

An attendee from last year’s class commented, “The women in the class were inspirational, a true mixed bag of backgrounds, geographical locations—and even ages—but all were deeply motivated to save wilderness areas and public lands. It was wonderful to hear how outdoor experiences provided so much peace, inspiration, and even saving grace to so many. It also was evident that early-age exposure to wild lands was instrumental in forming a lasting bond with the outdoors and environmental activism.”

Meals and lodging for the training are provided at no charge. Participants are asked to develop a one-year plan for their Broadband chapter and make a two-year commitment to act as a leader or co-leader for the organization. Participants are responsible to pay travel costs to and from Kensington. Travel scholarships may be available, contact Grassroots Leadership Director, Lisa Pool for more information at 970-385-9577 or lisa@greatoldbroads.org.
