Broads Archives Finds a Permanent Home at the Denver Public Library
For over 35 years, Great Old Broads for Wilderness has been working for the protection and preservation of America’s wild public lands and waters. And now, the Denver Public Library will be working for the protection and preservation of the Broads archives, celebrating and documenting that remarkable journey from our humble beginnings in 1989 and into the future.
Broads staff and volunteers, led by Membership Program Manager Jane Lindsey and retired Broads Communications Director Susan Kearns, have been combing through boxes of papers, photographs, and other materials documenting the organization’s advocacy and growth. These materials have been sent to the Denver Public Library’s Special Collections and Archives, which approached us earlier this year and offered to become the permanent home for these documents. Once cataloged by the library, which is expected to be completed next year, this treasure-trove of material will be available to the public via the Denver Public Library online catalog and the Special Collections and Archives archives database. You can access archival collections in person on Floor 5 of the Denver Central Library.
Stay tuned for more information when the Broads archives becomes available!
Recognition like this was only made possible through the hard work, commitment, and support of countless Broads over the past 35 years who have made our work on behalf of Mother Earth so effective and memorable—thank you!
