“There’s a gaping hole in what most Oregonians know and do about climate change. Most Oregonians readily recognize the direct threats from climate change̶the increasing frequency and intensity of heatwaves, wildfires, flooding, etc.̶and take appropriate steps to avoid them. They find places to stay cool during a heat wave, for example. Recent research, though, shows Oregonians know little about and aren’t taking steps to avoid the economic costs from climate change. These costs materialize as climate change reduces incomes, increases the costs of living, and degrades economic well-being. They are large and likely to get much larger. Sometime soon.” – Ernie Niemi

You are invited to join with the Willamette Valley Broads for a special presentation on May 5 from 4:30-6:00 PM at the Corvalis Public Library from natural resource economist Ernie Niemi, who will describe the costs of climate change, focusing on the costs for Oregon’s children, elderly, and households.

Ernie Niemi is President of Natural Resource Economics and a member of the non-partisan Forum on Oregon Climate Change Economics (FORCE),

Following Ernieʼs presentation join us at the Grand Oaks Club House for a Cinco De Mayo themed potluck. Bring a dish to share and your own table service and beverage. If you plan to join us for the potluck please RSVP HERE and weʼll send details and the address.
