Short Description of Activity

The GMUG dominated BB leader’s time this month with more than half the hours devoted to planning a 3-option “tour” (strenuous or gentle hike, plus auto-tour.) Ongoing solicitation of business support, coalition calls, Communication with partner organizations, USFS, & CPW. For the first time (via contacts provided by Regina Lopez Whiteskunk) BB leader reached out to the Ute Mtn Ute tribal council. Met with Bob Risch re: private mining claims within our proposed boundaries for the Ouray landscapes in the Community Conservation Proposal.

Reflection/Evaluation

Rather a frustrating month with so much time dedicated to planning the tours and then to have minimal response from our own membership as well as personally invited “guests” such that we cancelled all three options. BB leader also tried repeatedly to contact the Ute Mtn Ute leadership in order to meet in person (given other commitments in Montezuma County) however it took forever to connect with the appropriate person and then the timing was not going to work for tribal leaders. We continue to make progress soliciting business and non-profit support. Bob Risch’s expertise was key in preparing BB leader to answer questions posed by the Ouray Board of County Commissioners!
