Short Description of Activity

This activity report is a complication of hours spent researching, planning, emailing, phone calls, and webinars for the second quarter of 2020. All activities are in support of starting a new Broadband in Missoula, Montana.

Reflection/Evaluation

Goal for this activity was to learn about Great Old Broads, become familiar with protocols, begin the recruitment process for members, and stay in touch with the national staff and those who have expressed interest in being a part of the Missoula Broadband.

Start up for this has been quite slow, due to the huge changes that have occurred as a result of Covid19. Recruitment methods are much more limited, meetings nearly impossible, and “virus fatigue” has been a real factor in my ability to enthusiastically move forward. Keeping contact with the fabulous staff in Durango has been most helpful. I have personally had to be very cautious in regards to staying “socially distanced” out of respect for my partner, whose comfort level at this time requires much more caution than I would require. Trying my best to be creative and learn ways of accomplishing recruitment and building an organization. The webinar on organizing in a pandemic was quite helpful. Reaching out to more Broadband leaders informally in the future is my next goal to share ideas, keep up my energy and get to know other leaders better, until such time as I am able to meet them in person.
