Short Description of Activity

Laurie, Linda, and Kathleen monitored trails at North Lake, Bear Lake, Nick Eaton, Ridgeview, and Mt. Defiance. We camped at Rainy Lake CG.

Reflection/Evaluation

We noted a total of 70 people, 2 dogs, and 10 low flying aircraft. We monitored 4 dispersed campsites which each scored 0 for occupied sites within sight or continuous sound. There was a hazard tree hanging over a campsite uphill from North Lake on the southeast side. Many man-made structures on many campsites, ie., fire rings and logs for lean-too supports. The Nick Eaton trail is in a large burn area. The Ridgeview trail is very hard to follow. We monitored up to a high point in Nick Eaton. We went back and monitored up to the old wilderness boundary on the Gorton Creek Trail. All of these trails are in need of maintenance. Dined in Hood River.
