Landscape/area: Adobe Badlands WSA (10425 acres)
Measurable Outcomes
Outcome 1: Clean-up (3 )
Short Description of Activity
Went to site three times and picked up a bag of trash each time. Much of the trash is what shooters leave (shell casings etc and fire crackers, cigarette butts and beer cans) however, someone had left a bag of house hold trash on one date that had blown all over the area. BLM has not come to pick up the furniture that was disposed there yet. There was evidence out on the dunes that 4 wheelers had been used.
Reflection/Evaluation
The site has a long way to go to get rid of years of broken glass but over all the further diminishing of the area by trash is being prevented. The illegal use of bicycles and motorized vehicles continues. BLM has said that NEPA prevents them from continuing with their work putting up barriers to 4 wheelers going on to the area until the end of July as their work requires mechanical devices and noise.
