2/22 – NISAW – Overview of the group NAISMA, Opportunities in the 117th Congress and Biden Amin., recommendations to Biden-Harris and 117th Congress. – 1.5 hrs;
2/23 – DOI’s Invasive Species Strategic Plan, USDA Invasive Species update, US Army Research and Development Center – non structural deterrents for Species mgmt. (Bio-acoustics); US Army corps of Engineers – invasive species updates – 2020 Water Resources Development Act; – 1.5 hrs.
2/24 – USFW – Aquatic Nuisance Species Plan, UT Division of Wildlife Resources – Containing Quagga Mussels in Lake Powell; USFW – Asian Carp mgmt. plan; Building sustainable fisheries in Mississippi River basin – Miss. Interstate Resource Assn. – 1.5 hrs;
2/25 – Illinois Invasive Species Council and Morten Arboretum – Forest pests; Impacts of insects and disease on Carbon sequestration – Cornell U.; Tree Smart Trade – preventing invasive forest pests and pathogens from entering the US – Cary Inst. of Ecosystem Science; – 1.5 hrs.

Reflection/Evaluation

Some of these workshops were more useful than others for landlocked states like NM, but all were informative. The best workshop was the last one, Show me the Money; the presenter had lists of every important national legislator – the relevant committees they were on, contact info, party affiliation, staff contact info, and verbal info on what they had supported or not in the past. It is a recording/ppt that I wish I had access to – it is full of really useful info for lobbying and contacting people. When I get the ppt/recording, I will share it with our national office…
