Short Description of Activity

Ongoing advocacy to promote inclusion of the Community Conservation Proposal in the preferred alternative (and as many alternatives as possible) of the GMUG Forest Plan revision. Activities include: two meetings with the GMUG planning team; convening of coalition partners committed to centering Indigenous voices; bi-weekly coalition calls; concerns re: Baldy Veg Treatment proposal; communication with two new county commissioners, coalition partners, Indigenous partners, USFS, & members; participation in new Wild & Scenic sub-committee; communications re: aspects of the WOLFF grant implementation; review of and communication regarding BHA’s vision document;….

Reflection/Evaluation

All is going relatively well. An amazing coalition. Some frustration with GMUG planning team re: minimal acreage recommended for wilderness in Working Draft and uncertainty if much acreage has been added into the preparation of alternatives for the DEIS. Frustrated that comments (likely favorable) from our newly elected County Commission won’t change the outcome of the DEIS since planning team claims they are in the effects analysis phase of the already determined 4 alternatives.
