Key Issue: Public Lands Health & Protection

Key Partners: Several Environmental Groups in the border states, such as Sierra Club, Center for Biological Diversity and Sky Island Alliance in Tucson.

Short Description of Activity

The calls are meetings to discuss issues related to the border wall, which include habitat destruction, monitoring of wildlife sightings, water usage and depletion, and wall construction. The biggest issue lately is trying to find out if construction crews have left the sites or not. Most of the activities have centered around contacting elected officials to demand an end to the wall construction and habitat renewal. The emails are daily news of what Coalition members witness on the ground. The area covers the border area from San Diego through the state of Texas.

Reflection/Evaluation

Meetings are very informative. All who attend have a chance to tell news and describe what they have witnessed. Sometimes it is a video or photos of construction/destruction by the wall. Sometimes it’s political actions or bills to support or oppose. Sky Island Alliance has a photo monitoring program for wildlife sightings. It’s very well organized.
