Short Description of Activity

I participated in Wildlife Lobby week sponsored by the Oregon Wildlife Coalition and set up meetings with my state senator, Lee Beyer and state rep, Marty Wilde, to talk about wildlife legislation. I attended the training before hand to prepare me for the meetings. I discussed three bills with them – one to end coyote killing contests and two to protect beavers and also discussed using their influence to make sure strong conservation candidates are appointed to the Oregon Fish & Wildlife Commission. I

Reflection/Evaluation

I met with a staffer for Beyer so that meeting was pretty short and to the point. My meeting with Marty Wilde was great but since he co-sponsored all three of the wildlife protection bills I was preaching to the choir. Still since I’m from a rural area in a conservative county I know he appreciated hearing my voice and learning a bit more about the Broads.
