Short Description of Activity
Jenny and Roz took flyers from Grand Canyon Wolf Recovery – re wandering Mexican Gray Wolf Anubis – and the difference between wolves and coyotes – what to do if a Mexican Gray Wolf is spotted. We hung flyers in the Kaibab on Perkinsville Road, Dogtown Lake, Kendrick Mountain Trailhead. Parked in the forest and walked, looking for tracks. Found cow, elk, deer, rabbit, and one small canid (coyote?) (no people tracks to be a dog?). I also stopped at Perkinsville Bridge to educate Roz on that Water Sentinels Measurement site.
Reflection/Evaluation
Stayed in touch with Emily Renn from Grand Canyon Wolf Recovery. Other volunteers have been hanging flyers and there have been reported sightings of Anubis in the Kaibab in the areas we visited. Last time he was removed from the Kaibab was at Red Mountain (where we hiked in September w/Rendezvous leaders). We stopped there but didn’t find any tracks – getting dark so drove back. Our journey was 249 miles round trip from Prescott.
