Short Description of Activity
Met work crew from Sierra Club Yavapai Group and traveled off road to Perkinsville Bridge where we met two PNF reps – Susan Johnson and Nina Hubbard. I worked with mother and son removing illegal rock dam in the Upper Verde River (I brought waders). Also helped paint over graffiti on bridge, removed ropes, etc.
Reflection/Evaluation
Great crew at Perkinsville Bridge. PNF gated the area in October following years of letters and meetings to get them to close off the area to dispersed camping. It is wonderful – barely any hint of trash, fire rings removed, – PNF mandate is for two years. 17-year-old Nathan was super. PNF even invited him to join other teens on future projects. There is hope! His mother became dizzy, and I had just renewed first aid the week before – had her put her legs up and bend the knees – worked well. Photos available.
