Short Description of Activity

Polly-Dyer Seattle Broadband Team Leader, Barb Muirhead, organized this outing for our first social get-together since the pandemic began. We met at Tolmie State Park near Olympia because Mary-Taylor Goforth had a friend whom she said would lead us in Forest Bathing for no charge. Barb M had “scouted” Forest Bathing some weeks before, and she reported her hours for this scouting in last quarter’s activity report.

Reflection/Evaluation

We had a great turn out of ten Broads from the Polly Dyer Seattle Broadband plus Mary-Taylor from the Olympia Broadband (Genia, Barb M, Esther, Barbara Phalen, Kay, Janka, Cathy, Val, Shelley and me). The group included Valerie LaBreche, our 96-year-old Seattle Broadband member. In spite of rainy weather, we took a two-mile hike, and then ate lunch. After lunch, we did Forest Bathing for a brief period. The person scheduled by Mary-Taylor to lead the Forest Bathing called in sick so Mary-Taylor found a substitute. Unfortunately, the sub had never led a Forest Bathing event herself. Also, it turned out to be the coldest day on record for April in the Olympia area so we were Forest Bathing in the very crisp spring air! I am proud of all our Broads for coming–driving the distance from Seattle–and participating enthusiastically in the hike and Forest Bathing activities under less-than-ideal conditions. Yeah for Polly Dyer Seattle Broads!
