Short Description of Activity

The NM groups (3 broadbands) of Great Old Broads for Wilderness are aware of the border wall issues. Two of our Broadband Leaders (Joanie and Marcia) are with the Aldo Leopold Broadband out of Silver City. Of course, we care about access for wildlife especially, plant and water issues, and cultural resources with the existing Border Wall done by the Trump administration. We are definitely in favor of remediation but will likely take a stronger view than CBP in their plan.

Our two Broadbands (maybe a 3rd out of Santa Fe area) are gathering on a Zoom call on April 1 to talk about the areas of importance so that we can comment on these and hoping to get some geographic information from our national office for this call and come to a document that we can submit to U.S. CBP (Customs and Border Patrol). We would be interested in an informational meeting with CBP. I hope this will be by Zoom so that we can be a part of this since we are far from the Border.

Reflection/Evaluation

This collaboration with Antoinette Reyes worked well. I was able to put together comments, using and modifying and personalizing material from others, and I believe Linda did the same. We also signed on to the comments from NM Wild, etc. I really appreciated the efforts made by Sally from the national office to set this up for us.
