Short Description of Activity

A long drive from Corvallis to the trailhead, then a time-consuming shuttle to begin a beautiful hike in an old growth, mature forest that has remained untouched. The hike was an adventure because when blowdown after extreme summer heat in 2021 and very wet conditions in 2022 occurs in an old growth forest, maneuvering around big trees is a giant obstacle course. And in addition to blowdown, there were several areas where the trail collapsed. This 10-mile hike on a beautiful day took more than 6-hours. And then with shuttles and driving long distances, we experienced a 13-14 hour day. Everyone left with an increased understanding of trees and old growth forest and a great appreciation for each other.

Reflection/Evaluation
