Short Description of Activity

Solitude Monitoring and Recreation Site Monitoring

Reflection/Evaluation

When we arrived at the TH we noted 4 vehicles had their windows smashed in and had been ransacked. We then chose to park at the campground .5 mile from the TH in the day use area rather than at the TH and we also notified the camp host of the break ins. We ran into Kathleen and Robin doing rec site monitoring and they immediately surpassed us on the trail with their lightening speed! We encountered 9 groups of people and 3 dogs. A total of 36 people were on the trail within the zone. Unfortunately, we also ran into the folks who had been broken into. It was a large group of boy scouts and their leaders on their first outing of the season. We listened with empathy to their dilemma. Such a terrible experience for those boys! Then Laurie dropped her phone on the trail and had to go back and get it. Luckily, a nice young man had found it and gave it back to her. We had a long day, and dined at the Mexican restaurant. We plan to go back again on Friday as we got rained out for our Friday trip. Stay tuned for more of our Salmon Huckleberry Adventures!
