Short Description of Activity
This event, hosted by the Utah 3030 Coalition at the Patagonia Outlet in SLC, was an effort to educated the public about what 30 X 30 is all about and to encourage event participants to sign the online petition. Several coalition partners had tables and Patagonia organized the music, food and beverage vendors. We had approximately 100 people stop by our booth, 27 entered our contest and 13 signed up to be on our mailing list. We gave away Broadsides and GOB flyers.
In order to enter the drawing, participants had to answer the following: How many designated wilderness areas are in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Of the 27 entries, no one got the correct answer which is 9. In fact, the knowledge about wilderness areas (especially among the younger people) was very limited. We have work to do in this area for sure!
Reflection/Evaluation
The goal of this event was education and I found the audience very receptive to our message about 30 X 30 and the mission of GOBFW. Several people signed the online petition while at our booth. At this time I don’t have a statistic about total number of petition signatures.
