Short Description of Activity

This was a stewardship project to help a Scenic St. Croix former property now under the Arcola non-profit society to maintain its grounds and buildings right on the Historic St. Croix River. 17 Wild Waters Broadband members worked for 4 hours to pull invasive species, plant new plants, clean the mansion kitchen and clear trails. We also kayaked and canoed the beautiful St. Croix River near Marine on the St.Croix. A St Croix River historian led our canoe trip and educated us on the importance of this river and its lumber history. We learned that the river has over a thousand tributaries important to Minnesota and Wisconsin and the work our main speaker from the Wild Rivers Conservancy provided education on efforts to keep the river clean and how we can volunteer in the future. This is an extremely wonderful partnership and fits our mission.

Reflection/Evaluation

Our goals were definitely met: !. Engaging 17 members in a stewardship project, 2. Educating 17 members on St. Croix National Wild river efforts 3. Engaging, educating and Advocacy activities during the weekend. Members of the leadership team all agree it was a huge success!!!! We also encouraged new members to continue and encouraged guests to become members. We educated the staff of Dunrovin about who we are and our mission. For fun, we had a “river rock” painting session that was a huge success. We had a closing planning meeting for our annual BWCAW trip in September which filled immediately with 15 people.
