Participated in Ambler Coalition Planning calls.
Reflection/Evaluation
I had concerns after reading an editorial that pushed for the mineral extraction road route to be changed to go to Nome, written by a coalition participant. This road was never presented in the EIS alternatives but may be int he future revisions. My concern was that pushing for such a road encouraged the mineral development in the area, which I felt should be prohibited at this point . Court has recently decided to allow the EIS to go forward without direct involvement by the Corps of Engineers. Ongoing tactics will include outreach to involved villages to get them to issue resolutions against development of the proposed road.
