Short Description of Activity

Photoed, identified and filed photos of plants with I-Naturalist for the Alaska Wildflower Bioblitz

Reflection/Evaluation

Goal was to see what wildflowers/plants were identified in what areas, if any new plants/flowers were found, if any more invasives had entered into the country, throughout Alaska. We first went on a hike to learn the program and how to use it. We then did some hikes together and some alone and Loren did 8 days in the Chugach backcountry with 4 others and photoed flowers every day. We found a rare variety of the Poppy in the exact same spot where we first saw it 11 years ago on a specific mountain ridge, and did not see it anywhere but there (there were over a dozen plants of it on the ridge). As there were as little as 1 person and as many as 4 participating at a time, i totaled all of the hours and divided by 4 so that the total number of hours came out correctly.
