Short Description of Activity

Town Hall meeting with State Representatives Jason Kropf and Emerson Levy filling us in on current bills in legislature that they are supporting and or chairing.

Reflection/Evaluation

The bills they are sponsoring are: HB 2001 – Climate change concerns, 100% clean energy by 2040. Emerson is co-chair of this committee; Push to put pressure on utilities. SB 869,868,870, and 569 all are about building resilience in new buildings/developments. Push for heat pumps. Includes commercial buildings.; SB 530 Natural Climate solutions, sequestring carbon, creat funds for assessments regarding carbon. HB 2667, Factory Farm Moratorium for confined Animal feeding operations which has not only huge impact on public health, but also on small family farms. SB 543, 544,545,542 all have to do with Zero Waste from plastics to food packaging as well as “right to repair”. There is a lot of talk about water and water bills, but right now doesn’t look like there will be much movement on that this year. Biomass is on the radar but not taking a position on this right now.
