Short Description of Activity

I attended the in-person Town Hall Meeting for the Washington State 18th district.

Reflection/Evaluation

I was gerrymandered into this new district and now I have one Democratic State legislator whom I met briefly in the restroom. She would love to hear about us and would like to meet on a Friday with other Broads in my district.

I asked the question at the Town Hall about the response from the legislature about Governor Inslee’s budget appropriating $5M for Travel and $5 for Energy and $.5 M for Irrigation and if they approved of such a budget for transitioning in the event the Lower Snake Dams were removed. Ann Rivers, Democrat, stated that she would be surprised if it didn’t as there had been so many studies and lots of support from this Democratic Legislature. I felt like a sheep in a pack of wolves when I asked the question; however, several people came up to me at the end and said I had spoken well and they appreciated my comments. I also talked with Sue Marshall who is on the Clark County Council about the illegal Zimmerly Mining in Washougal right adjacent to the Steigerwald National Wildlife Refuge and what the county was planning on doing to stop the mining from happening. She said she would research it and I sent her a follow up email but she hasn’t returned my email.

I was very thankful for the meeting and the public was respectful of the legislators and others, although I had to sit and listen to the opposition to Non-Affirming Gender Care and abortion among others.
