Short Description of Activity
After a pandemic hiatus of two years, Aldo’s Silver City Broadband held our annual potluck brunch! Twelve out of a total of fifteen attendees were members, while three were not. The goal of this brunch is to provide highlights of our annual activities ranging from advocacy to stewardship, point out advocacy opportunities, summarize the recent NM legislative session, get folks more engaged in our activities, while visiting and having fun. We also honored one of our recent co-leaders, including a letter and certificate of acknowledgement from GOBW staff. A short hike was offered after the brunch.
Reflection/Evaluation
Fifteen participants attended and the brunch went very well with good discussions and fun mingling. Co-leaders and several steering committee members spoke on various advocacy, stewardship, or legislative topics. A guest from another Broadband was also able to attend as she was traveling through the area and we were able to share some information on public land grazing and other issues. We had sign-up sheets for co-leading quarterly hikes, joining our Aldo’s Broadband Borderlands team, and helping with events. Four folks signed up to help with quarterly hikes. We pointed out the 2024 Gila Wilderness Centennial Celebration and how we might be involved. There was quite a lot of interest in the presentation about our newly formed Borderlands team, and 5 attendees signed up to be part of this team. Meanwhile, we are planning a hike in the Mesilla bosque area as a result of one participant from that area who was able to attend the brunch.
