Short Description of Activity

I was a volunteer environmental activitst learning from a diverse group of professional environmental activists about a variety of issues requiring protection around the Dolores River Canyon. We also participated in field trips which showed us why this area is worth protecting as volunteers or paid staff. We went in depth learning about the Dolores River NCA and possible pending National Monument protections. Ean Tafoya representing Green Latinos shared about the CO Environmental Justice Act and how the Pandemic of Pollution effects frontline communities.

Reflection/Evaluation

I learned so much about what other environmental activist groups are working on and how our Broadband can help. I connected with local BLM and Canyon of the Ancients staff to help us on our stewardship projects. Rica from Dolores River Boating helped me find hip boots for the Mancos Canyon Restoration and I found out that she’s connected to Ben Robinson. Ean was very encouraging about our Green Amendment project enlisting high school and college students to bring the Green Amendment to CO legislators like the Montana students taking fossil fuels projects to court using their Green Amendment. Getting on the listserv keeps me informed about local issues like uranium mining in Disappointment Valley.
