Short Description of Activity
Read opinion piece about the proposed mine from Illiamna resident, then met with 3 generations of a Bristol Bay resident family, while at the Alaska Professional Hunter’s Association annual meeting.
Reflection/Evaluation
We discussed the state of the Pebble mine decision. Our governor is appealing a ruling against Alaska in their lawsuit against the EPA for ‘overreach’ in their denial and statement of future denial of Clean Water permits for the proposed Pebble Mine and the entire rivershed region. We decided to work on a public outreach campaign to keep awareness of the dangers of the mine front and center, until the lawsuit reaches what we hope will be a final denial.
