Short Description of Activity
Monthly meeting with Solid Waste as they ok at expansion of the local landfill.
Reflection/Evaluation
The county has dialed down from 15 to 2 potential locations for the extension of the county landfill. The biggest issues with these two locations is that one is at the Trailhead of the “Badlands” which has eagles and peregine populations. The other location is sage-steppe location that has not been touched, any encrouchements, etc. I believe they will have to go thru some kind of NEPA process due to wildlife with the one location having sage-grouse population which has not had any disturbances. My other concern is that landfills need to have some specific guidelines to protect environment and groundwater….this area is lava and sand…need to follow up if in fact they are paying attention to that.
