Short Description of Activity
On Sept. 25, four members of our broadband monitoring team monitored within the Gila River bird conservation area. We knew that cattle had been recently removed from the adjacent allotment for the season, so thought monitoring here would be timely. From the bluff we went both upstream and downstream. Gates that we often found open were closed. We observed no recent cattle sign. In addition, Avenza allotment maps were added to one of our members phone (entered as pre-activity time).
Reflection/Evaluation
Given this exclosure is usually a problem area with unauthorized cattle, we were pleased to find no recent cattle sign. Presumably the removal of cattle from the adjacent allotment is likely a key factor.
