Short Description of Activity
Several broadband members attended the New Mexico Climate Action Plan discussion in Silver City. (The aim of the NM Climate Action Plan is
[1] To reduce climate pollution by 45% by 2030 (compared to 2005; [2] To lead New Mexico to net zero climate pollution by 2050.) We spoke up for the role that public lands could play in climate change, including in NM.
Reflection/Evaluation
The number of participants interested in the role of natural climate solutions/ carbon draw down/ public lands and ecological issues was encouraging. The various ideas mentioned by local community participants was impressive and hopefully many of these ideas will be incorporated into the draft plan.
