Key Partners: BLM
Landscape/area: Adobe Badlands WSA (10425 acres)
Measurable Outcomes
Outcome 1: Clean-up (5 sites/plots)
Outcome 2: Clean-up (1 Other)
Short Description of Activity
Did clean up at five sites around parking lots/areas on 4/30/25. Removed a bag of trash holding 8.5 pounds of litter, mostly beer cans, broken glass, and gun trash. One of the lots where the WSA sign had been reinstalled, the barrier wire in front of it had been cut to allow direct entry for bikes and other vehicles. Written report sent to BLM on 5/3/25.
Reflection/Evaluation
The goal is to monitor the WSA, clean up trash left, and to inform BLM monthly of what I have found and done. This continues to be achieved monthly. Overall the area is much better than when I first began this process but continues to be needed. In spite of obvious information posted and a great deal of open land available for activities across the street from the WSA, people continue to violate the requirements for the WSA. However, the amount of trash being left is significantly improved.
