Key Issue: Public Lands Health & Protection
Activity Type: Broadband Meeting (prep, implementation & follow up)

Short Description of Activity

Broadband leader met with past co-leader to discuss a potential stewardship project for the fall of 2025. After discussing various ideas, we focused on a stewardship project within the Gila National Forest, which would likely involve camping overnight. We then contacted the GNF Hydrologist and GNF Wildlife Biologist to talk about specific areas, such as the Stone Creek, Black Canyon, or Apache Creek areas. This would involve restoration efforts such as planting willow trees at one of these sites. We would also like to include a less strenuous stewardship activity during this trip too, if possible. At this time we are leaning toward a project near Stone Creek where it flows into the San Francisco River.

Reflection/Evaluation

Initial planning went well. We will have to see how things progress though, in terms of staff at GNF still being able to coordinate for and with us. This will be necessary in order to perform this stewardship. (We hope key staff members are able to continue in their important jobs.)
