Short Description of Activity

Continued meetings with County Commissioners on the 2040 Comprehensive plan, which the biggest issue is the rezoning of forest and farmlands, which leads to expansion of large scale expensive housing in the county.

Reflection/Evaluation

One of the biggest hurdles with this issue is that two commissioners dont’ want the county or anyone telling landowners what they can and cannot do with their property. THe impacts with the scattered rezoning impacts wildlife, wildlife corridors and those who want to farm being able to afford purchasing land. All of these issues are under the Goal 14 in the plan which was send back to the County to review. One commissioner doesn’t support the rezoning and looking at concerns regarding urbanization. I/we gave support to Land Watch regarding not allowing this rezoning….don’t know if this will fall on deaf ears, but Land Watch is litigating this and has a fairly strong case.
