Short Description of Activity
Very similar to last month, rode/walked around 5 areas off of Devil’s Thumb Road. I skipped the first area where I saw from the road there were pronghorns resting and feeding. Overall, there continues to be much less trash than in the past. There were no bags of trash that had been left. However, there were some metal devices that were too big and I was not able to remove them. BLM was notified so when their truck is in the area they can be removed. The main trash issues are with gun trash, broken glass and other objects left like beer cans etc. There continues to be misuse of the area in terms of motorized/mechanized vehicles, but none were seen during this visit. This probably is less frequent at this time of year when the Adobes are very hot during the day. The wire barrier at one of the parking areas still has not yet been repaired. I removed approximately 3 pounds of trash on this date one bag.
Reflection/Evaluation
The goal is to monitor the area and to remove trash. I inform BLM monthly of my findings and any need for the agency to respond to a problem found, like signs removed or destroyed, large trash items requiring a truck to remove etc. The goal is being met.
