Short Description of Activity
A team of Peggy Lyon, Lisa Knight, Sallie Thoreson and Judith Lopez represented the Northern San Juan Broadband at Ridgway Riverfest on 6/28/25. We were helped by other family members and friends. Many (approximately 25) stopped to talk with us about our goals, mission, and programs. They came from all over Colorado, some other states, and one from Cameroon. The message received from them was that people do care about public lands and protecting them. Nine people asked to be added to our mailing list. Many expressed interest in our planned July meeting on co-existing with wolves. Sallie’s origami frogs were a hit; the chance to make one and put your own message on it were part of a scavenger hunt. Many parents with children stopped by.
Reflection/Evaluation
The goal is to represent the mission and goals of the Great Old Broads and to educate the public about important related issues. We had a very positive reception from the individuals who stopped at our table. Hopefully some new people will get involved with our group and meetings and become advocates for wilderness as a consequence of our presence at this event.
