Short Description of Activity
The Solid Waste is convening meetings as they are planning on where the new 100 year old landfill is going to be located. They will then make their recommendations to the County Commissioners. This is the 2nd round of this as the first attempts fell thru due to lack of negotiations…..which actually was great as it was next door to the Bad Lands wilderness area.
Reflection/Evaluation
And the circus begins. Many of the proposed sites have many issues and kthe biggest concern is habitate for sage grouse. All of these locations are east of Bend so traffic and gas emissions is an issue as well as concerns for water. A decision will be made and recommended to the County Commissioners. None of the proposed choices are great and litigation will most likely happen with Land Watch.
