Short Description of Activity
I attended this Lunch and Learn session about the ecological and cultural restoration of Bear River Massacre of 1863 site and beyond in 3 state Bear River Basin which ultimately will impact the Great Salt Lake. Over 100 folk were there with 6 of their partners in the project presenting, including UofU, USU, Bio West, and engineers for the tribe etc.
Reflection/Evaluation
I learned an incredible amount/ presentation was extensive with lots of time for questions after each presenter. I also made an important new contact and renewed an old one (30 years since I’d last worked with this water lawyer who is now retired and working on water issues with Navahos in Southern Utah). Dagny Signorelli, Wyoming and Utah director with Western Watersheds sat behind me and introduced herself saying ‘your ears are burning’ type things about Broads. I got her card and a promise to contact. Think our Broadband will be interested maybe in working with them on a project. Also, the group working on the Wuda Ogwa Project is having a tree planting couple of days in November that I want to involve our Broadband in as volunteers. The actual site where the restoration and tree planting is taking place is in Idaho, but not far driving wise.
