Short Description of Activity
Broadband paid jeep for ride up to top of Copper Gulch Trailhead. Used binocs to scope for sheep of any type (bighorn or domestic) in the high country at several points along the trail. None seen.
Reflection/Evaluation
We will continue to rely on jeep transport in order to access high country, but are also trying to plan day hikes for members who have vehicles that can handle the rougher high-elevation roads and can do at least some hiking. Thankfully, there are a series of jeep trips (and a horse-pack multi-night backpack) trip organized by our Broadband to continue to monitor this particular region for sheep. In addition, Robyn Cascade accompanied up and will be writing a separate activity report for her multi-day back pack near Difficulty Creek.
While we did not see sheep, we will continue to participate in other ways to advocate for bighorn health, such as close collaboration with Forest Service management staff for domestic allotment compliance.
