Short Description of Activity
The 3rd quarterly gathering of Aldo’s Broadband book club was held at a local pub in the historic downtown. Thirteen folks attended, which was good attendance considering schedule conflicts etc. We started with refreshments and mingling, followed by introductions of several new folks, very engaging conversation about the book and related topics, and follow-up discussion about ideas for selecting books etc. moving forward.
Reflection/Evaluation
The book (Secret Knowledge of Water) was very relevant to our area and initiated lots of personal stories and ideas shared by participants. It was particularly relevant this month during “monsoon” season after a period of extreme drought. These gatherings continue to go very well and folks enjoyed it. We think that this function will help meet our goal of offering a new broadband activity for everyone, including those who may not hike much anymore. We also took time to talk about our upcoming service project camp out scheduled for this September.
