Short Description of Activity
We continued our efforts to conduct campground condition surveys for targeted campgrounds within GNF. This is for the purpose of seeing what repairs/ upgrades are needed and we are doing this because we think this will help facilitate appreciation, enjoyment, and thus support of our nearby public lands. We applied our tweaked forms at Upper Gallinas campground using input we gained last month, when conducting surveys with the Rec Specialist. This time we accompanied the Natural Resource Specialist who applied her best monitoring practices survey of the campground at the same time. We pick up any trash we see at the same time. Condition photos are downloaded after the survey and then shared with the forest service, along with the completed survey.
Reflection/Evaluation
It went well and was an enjoyable day in a lovely area. We appreciated completing our survey at the same time as the Natural Resource Specialist was completing her survey. This holistic approach, which also considers erosion etc. should be a good way to approach these surveys for planning purposes.
