Short Description of Activity
Fifty people met September 27, 2025, at the entrance to Lovell Canyon, which is US Forest Service land directly adjacent to Red Rock Canyon. Half the group stayed at the road entrance and conducted a very far sweeping trash and garbage clean up. The other half of the group went 20 miles up to the Lovell Canyon Trail Head and cleared heavy vegetation overgrowth that had damaged a border fence, and then the cross pole fence was rebuilt.
Reflection/Evaluation
I was in the trail head group. It was heartening to see such a large group of people get to work, leaderless but organized. Heavy and important work was done. Lots of great older women from many walks of Life. At least 6 young people, 20-year-olds, joined us. Very encouraging! Hopefully there will be new recruits for GOBW! It was really fun! It was wonderful to meet so many people interested in outdoor conservation. 🙂
As for the trash clean up, I estimate the group filled at least 25 large garbage bags. We were surprised by the amount of plastic. Sad. The wildlife, flora and fauna, will live better for their efforts! Great weather, great company, great day!

Sally, I can’t see the photos so I don’t know which is what. I don’t know the names of the workers, anyway. 🙂
