You are invited to join the Northern Front Range Broadband (CO) as we explore Soapstone Prairie, one of Fort Collins Natural Areas. It’s located just north of Fort Collins, about an hour drive to the trailhead. There is potential to safely view bison, pronghorn, mule deer and maybe elk while taking in the beauty of the prairie.

What: Hike on the Cheyenne Rim Trail in Soapstone Prairie. This trail in its entirety is about 7.8 miles. We will hike about 3 miles of easy to moderate terrain, plan on 6 miles roundtrip. The trail parallels the Bison Range for the first mile or 2.

When: Wednesday October 15 -Meeting to carpool at 8:30AM and returning to Fort Collins by 3:00PM; Carpool location TBD.

Bring: Wear clothing for the weather, (it’s often windy)  an orange vest is optional—hunting season does not include Natural Areas; Sturdy hiking shoes, snacks and lunch, water, binoculars. There will be an Inreach-emergency communication device and a First aid kit.

At the trailhead Natalie will provide a brief overview of Soapstone Prairie, highlighting the bison natural area.
