Short Description of Activity

The usual coalition communication and campaign planning plus this month -solicitation of Montrose business letters of support requested by Senator Bennet (4); solicitation of sign ons to Craft Beverage joint letter (5); connection with Ridgway Ouray Community Council(ROCC) (local affiliate of Western Colorado Alliance) as they form a public lands committee interested in working on CORE; outreach to Betsy Baer/Senator Gardner staffer in GJ; follow up with Senator Gardner’s DC staff from our November 2019 lobby trip to Washington, DC.

Reflection/Evaluation

Great on obtaining Montrose business letters of support and sign ons for Craft Beverage letter (let me know if you need me to send that as well, but Lisa should have it.) Not so great on meeting with Betsy Baer since I have been trying since December 2019. We came close in February but then a snowstorm interfered. Pretty disappointed in Gardner’s DC staff. Jared Soncrandt with whom we met face to face while in DC is not longer with Gardner’s staff and Dustin Sherer is not replying to my email requests with the questions Jared said he would address with the Senator. As you know, no movement by Gardner to ask for a committee hearing or offer support/co-sponsorship for the CORE Act. The ROCC public lands committee formation has been approved by the membership and time will tell how our collaboration with them goes. Right now their committee members would benefit from joining the larger CORE Act coalition and calling into weekly conference calls to come up to speed.
