Molok Luyuk Broadwalk

May 15-19, 2023

Designated in 2015, Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument in Northern California offers extensive natural, cultural, and historical attractions. The monument is the most biodiverse in the state with ecosystems ranging from chaparral to old-growth forest to rugged mountains festooned with rare plant species.

Inhabited by several tribes for more than 10,000 years, the region is filled with cultural sites and the remains of structures built by early European/American settlers. The Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation has been actively advocating for this addition and is working on a co-management strategy with the Bureau of Land Management.

Join Broads and our partners from Tuleyome, CalWild, and the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation to get to know this distinct landscape and learn about efforts to expand the monument with the addition of Condor Ridge, (known as Molok Luyuk [Ma-lok Lue-yoke] in the Patwin language), an area packed with important cultural sites, unique geology, and fragile ecosystems.

Extra Activities!

In addition to wildflower, geology hikes, and a day of stewardship activities, we have a couple of add-on opportunities! We have reserved 10 spots on Wednesday and Thursday at Wilbur Hot Springs, a health sanctuary, with geothermal springs and an 1800-acre nature preserve. Activities include clothing optional bathing in the hot springs and hiking and biking on the many trails in the Nature Preserve. Day passes are only $63. Spaces are limited! You can sign up when you register or contact us to add it after you’ve registered.

We’re also working on lining up a river rafting add-on and will notify registrants when that add-on opportunity has been confirmed.

Back to Basics

This is a retro Broads back-to-basics camping event. We’ll set up our basecamp on property near Molok Luyuk. We can accommodate tent camping, small campers, and camper vans. There is no electricity, refrigeration, or showers (bring your headlamps + coolers), but we’ll have plenty of porta-potties. For those that prefer lodging, there are hotels/casinos where you can make lodging arrangements separately.

Munchies, Meals, and Water

We will provide  healthy breakfasts and dinners—you’ll just need to pack your lunches, snacks, and beverages. We will have some water available, however, please bring potable water for personal use.

Price: $395
